It’s just so tragic to me, that Sherlock would fight and die for this man,  (multiple times, apparently), but that he doesn’t realize until right now that John loves him too. Sherlock definitely knows that John’s life revolved around him before the fall and he goes so far as to assume, in TEH, that it will do so again now that he’s back. But he thinks he’s an outlet for John’s adrenaline and not much else besides.

It kills me to think, that when he freaking jumped off a building for John, he didn’t know. Sherlock acknowledged in the Christmas special that John just doesn’t have friends, but it’s only right here, that he realizes what that means.

That John doesn’t have friends— He’s just got one.

Sherlock means just as much to John as John means to him. And he never even knew.
